Lucy Conochie’s practice intends to create a visual reference to an unspoken or unrecorded event, thought or idea. For many of the objects and paintings she makes, the environment in which they are seen is equally as important as the objects themselves, just as the context of a word forms much of its meaning. This is one reason why she often makes work directly in the spaces they are to be exhibited in, and create site-specific lighting situations. Sometimes re-uses works in different contexts, creating a new meaning for each situation and, by default, a new work. Lucy Conochiecompleted her MA at the Slade School in 2007.
