JP.Brouard’s Family Photos

Designer JP.Brouard showed his family photos on his blog. These sweet images are both ordinary and extraordinary, they express the most basic and the most essential meaning in photography. ”My parents’ anniversary is coming up in a few weeks, so I had a rummage through an old tin my mom has with a wad of old photos. I found these few of them together. Most of these were taken in 1973, so five years before I was born. It’s sort of strange seeing them together in the photos though.  No kids around, no house, no joys and sorrows the following years would bring. I often wish I could go back in time and hang out with them in those days that seem so carefree.” - JP.Brouard

Kevin Cummins - Joy Division

· website

Manchester born Kevin Cummins became known in the 1970s for his visceral photographs of musicians like David Bowie, Patti Smith, The Sex Pistols and Joy Division; leading his career to a 25-year association with NME Magazine, for which he was chief photographer. Having grown up in Manchester, Cummins had an inherent understanding of the band as a product of their bleak environments, proving to be a vital ingredient in understanding what was needed to appropriately depict the band. What started out as an assignment quickly turned into a project for Cummins, photographing the band frequently while practicing, playing live or just hanging out. This extensive series, most of which previously unseen, has been published by Rizzoli as a 208-page hardcover book alongside an introductory essay by Jay McInerney and a conversational interview between Cummins and Bernard Sumner about the band.

How To Make A Book With Steidl

两位德国导演Gereon Wetzel和Joerg Adolph一同完成了一部关于德国史泰德(Steidl)出版社的纪录片《How To Make A Book With Steidl》,点击这里观看片花

(Steidl):

For 40 years, Gerhard Steidl has combined the roles of printer and publisher, resolved to personally check each sheet leaving his printing shop in Göttingen. This perfectionism, combined with an unconditional love for books, for the traditional printing craft, and a commitment to the quality standards of manufacturing (in the original sense of the word, made by hand), has gained worldwide attention.

The most internationally renowned photographic artists vie for the opportunity to collaborate with Gerhard Steidl, to conceive and produce the perfect publication with him. Filmed in the direct cinema style, HOW TO MAKE A BOOK WITH STEIDL (Trailer) observes the publisher, as he collaborates with the world famous photographers Joel Sternfeld, Robert Frank, Ed Ruscha, Jeff Wall and Robert Adams.
