Canadian glass artist Tanya Lyons uses clear glass as a carrier for chosen thoughts, feelings and memories. She combines these pieces with elements of nature such as dried berries, shells, rocks, butterflies, etc. that she has gathered in her journeys.

“Art making is an essential part of my life. I like being in a fluid state more than in a static state. I prefer to be able to work with more than one medium and I like to be flexible in my thoughts and practice. Shapes and colors in my paintings and drawings evoke figurative qualities which embrace a kaleidoscope of emotions.” Admiring the intricate hand embroidered abstract designs of Winnipeg-based artist, Takashi Iwasaki.

Maryanne Casasanta

· website

Artist Maryanne Casasanta lives and works in Toronto. ”My work reflects my interest in the personification of everyday objects: giving them a life they don’t normally have, looking past their typical use, admiring them and transforming them into something greater. Either I rearrange them, alter their function, attempt to create new connections between them or simply take their portraits. I work out of the context of my apartment with the resources available to me in my home. I’m always interested in finding new ways to characterize my space. Sometimes, I venture out for fresh air and find interesting, incidental things to interact with and document on those journeys. It creates a balance between interior and exterior spaces.” –  Maryanne Casasanta
