“手工vs机器”(hand vs machine)是艺术家Minchaya Chayosumrit在圣马丁艺术学院的毕业作品,他分别用手工和电脑两种不同方式绘制相同的图案,记录下时间,然后并置排列。

Hand vs machine is Minchaya Chayosumrit’s MA final project at Central Saint Martins. This book is a documentation of the project featuring eight pieces of work. In each of them, there is a repetitive hand made piece placed alongside its counterpart, made by computer.

More than places to get a haircut, barbershops and salons serve as the community hubs of South African townships. In South African Township Barbershops & Salons, Simon Weller presents vivid photographs of signage, shops and their patrons alongside interviews with the proprietors, customers and sign makers. This honest and intimate portrayal of these small businesses challenges preconceptions, gives voice to township residents and reveals and undeniable aspect of South African culture.

Royal Photographer Marcus Adams

Marcus Adams (1875-1959)于1926年至1956年间担任皇室四个世代的成员的御用摄影师。他是摄影师Walton Adams的儿子。他能准确捕捉就座的年轻人物的性格,因而成功地树立了顶尖儿童摄影师的声誉。目前,Marcus Adams 皇室摄影展正在爱丁堡女王画廊展出,展览中所陈列的100张照片的时间跨度长达30年,并且包括了几乎所有的皇室场合的年代印记,其多很多作品选自“英国女王王太后”(Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother)收藏系列。本次展览中最引人注目的作品是一组摄于1920及1930年代的优秀照片,该组照片反映了伊丽莎白公主和玛格丽特公主年幼的生活情景。

An exhibition of over 100 photographs of the Royal Family is now showing at The Queen’s Gallery in Edinburgh to celebrate the work of Marcus Adams. Widely acclaimed for his photographic portraits of children, Adams created a unique record of two generations of royal children between 1926 and 1956. The exhibition includes vintage prints from almost all the royal sittings, many from the personal collection of Queen Elizabeth ,The Queen Mother and provides an enchanting and intimate glimpse of the Royal Family over 30 years.

Kevin Cummins - Joy Division

自1970年代开始,曼彻斯特摄影师Kevin Cummins因拍摄包括David Bowie、Patti Smith、性手枪、Joy Division在内的众多知名音乐人而被大家所熟知,作为首席摄影师,他与英国著名的音乐杂志《NME》合作了25年之久。在曼彻斯特的成长经历,令他更为深入的了解乐队的内在精神与力量,因而,他的那些发自肺腑的影像,显得更为直接、真实且铿锵有力。

起初,拍摄Joy Division只是一个《NME》委派的普通拍摄任务,到后来,渐渐的发展为Cummins长期的个人项目。这本摄影集中,也首次曝光了许多Joy Division成员在光环退去后的私人生活瞬间,乐队的排练和演出的记录等等。本书由Rizzoli出版,208页,同时还收录了Cummins同Bernard Sumner的深度访问。

Manchester born Kevin Cummins became known in the 1970s for his visceral photographs of musicians like David Bowie, Patti Smith, The Sex Pistols and Joy Division; leading his career to a 25-year association with NME Magazine, for which he was chief photographer. Having grown up in Manchester, Cummins had an inherent understanding of the band as a product of their bleak environments, proving to be a vital ingredient in understanding what was needed to appropriately depict the band. What started out as an assignment quickly turned into a project for Cummins, photographing the band frequently while practicing, playing live or just hanging out. This extensive series, most of which previously unseen, has been published by Rizzoli as a 208-page hardcover book alongside an introductory essay by Jay McInerney and a conversational interview between Cummins and Bernard Sumner about the band.

英国艺术家Lucy Conochie作品涉及绘画、雕塑、装置等诸多领域。她试图表达一种未被言说或记录的事件或想法。她认为作品的展示环境和作品本身同等重要,所以她经常在展示空间内创作,也会更多的考虑空间的重构和利用,各种不同的空间会令她诞生出完全不同的作品来。2007年,Lucy Conochie获得斯莱德艺术学院硕士学位。

Lucy Conochie’s practice intends to create a visual reference to an unspoken or unrecorded event, thought or idea. For many of the objects and paintings she makes, the environment in which they are seen is equally as important as the objects themselves, just as the context of a word forms much of its meaning. This is one reason why she often makes work directly in the spaces they are to be exhibited in, and create site-specific lighting situations. Sometimes re-uses works in different contexts, creating a new meaning for each situation and, by default, a new work. Lucy Conochie completed her MA at the Slade School in 2007.
