UC berkeley art museum presents an installation of polaroids taken by andy warhol during the period of 1970 to 1987. The collection donated to the university museum is one of portraits depicting people of varied backgrounds including royalty, athletes, and musicians in addition to unknown individuals all photographed against a plain white backdrop. Similar to the techniques of antiquated portraiture, several sitters are pictured with a prop indicative of their personality.

Each year CPNB (Collective Promotion Dutch Literature) organises the Dutch Book Week to promote Dutch literature. And every year a specific genre is being profiled. This year the (auto) biography is featured. This is translated in the theme ‘Geschreven Portretten’, which translates in ‘Written Portraits’. Van Wanten Etcetera created the campaign, which show the different faces behind the (auto) biographies. Anne Frank, Vincent van Gogh, Louis van Gaal and Kader Abdolah (writer of the biographic Book Week give away). Souverein made the artwork and did an amazing job creating realistic images. Even the structure of the original book pages was used for the text inside the portraits to get right structure for each portrait.

有趣的是，相比土生土长的中国人，那些来自西方国家的摄影师似乎更钟情于记录这座飞速变化中的国家，对于这里一丝一毫的变化，也更加敏锐。美国摄影师Daniel Traub，中文名叶仁杰从1999年开始，试图从拍摄于城市街头和城乡结合部的照片来描摹当代的中国。在一次展览的前言中，他这样形容这个地方：“整个中国的现状可以从这些景观中看到：悬而未决，粗砺和自相矛盾。”
Daniel Traub is an American photographer who divides his time between New York City and Shanghai, China. Since 1999, he has been engaged with long term projects in China including Simplified Characters which explores the transformation of China’s cities through street portraits and urban scenes, and City’s Edge which looks at the border region where urban and rural China meet. More recently, he has been working on a project in Philadelphia, the city where he was born.

Evelyn Hofer began work as a photographer in the mid 1940′s after fleeing from her native Germany and beginning a tutelage under two Swiss photographers. She collaborated on a renowned series of travel books with writers in the 1950s and 1960s. She died last year at 87, in Mexico City.
